FAQ

  • Therapy is different for everyone. We all have unique goals and histories. Whether you want to decrease anxiety, feel less stress from chronic issues, or work to lessen the impact of trauma, we will make a plan that aligns with your values. Once we talk about what brought you to therapy and where you would like to be, we will create goals that fit. From there, we will talk about what kinds of therapy you are comfortable with and start doing the work. I will be with you and explain things every step of the way!

  • We will explore ways to cope and resources and supports you can rely on outside of sessions so that you can stay in the present. Once you feel secure in your ability to handle any uncomfortable feelings that might come up outside of therapy, we can start doing the deep work. This involves working to find the root of the issues or feelings and working to lessen their impact through EMDR and ACT to help you feel better overall.

  • I specialize in working with adolescents to adults who have experienced or are experiencing anxiety, trauma, PTSD, chronic illness, women’s issues, men's issues, LGBTQ+ issues, or other co-occurring issues.

  • EMDR is the gold standard in trauma therapy. It allows you to reprocess negative and traumatic events in a way that stores them differently in your brain. This lets you lead a better life and out of survival mode.

Here are links to more information on EMDR:

  • Yes! EMDR therapy is just as effective virtually as it is in person! We will go over mechanics of how it works over video and practice to make sure you are completely comfortable before starting reprocessing.

You will be able to decide whether you want to tap, see a light go back and forth, or listen to tones in your ear.

  • Along with EMDR, I use mindfulness techniques, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), strengths-based, and somatic interventions. Check out my other specialty pages to learn more!
